Abstract: | Methods are described for the direct spectrophotometric analysis of human oxyhemoglobin, deoxyhemoglobin, and methemoglobin focused in polyacrylamide tube gels. Visible absorption spectra (350-650 nm) of electrofocused hemoglobin bands were recorded using a diode array rapid-scan spectrophotometer. Direct optical sampling of gels allowed the identification of focused hemoglobin valency hybrids which contain two oxidized monomers per tetramer. |
