| Abstract: | Pseudobryopsis myura, type of the genus, is monoecious; male and female gametocysts occur on the same plant; there is definite anisogamy and only macrogametes possess a stigma. The mode of extrusion of the gametes differs both from the Bryopsis-type and from the Codium-type. As in Codium the discharge of the gametocyst is due to internal pressure. Gametes become motile only after their extrusion from the gametocyst. |
