Recovery of protein from sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels

An apparatus for extracting small quantities of protein from sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels is described. It enables protein contained in a slice of polyacrylamide gel to be transferred electrophoretically, into a small volume of buffer solution. The technique is rapid (within 2 h), reproducible, and efficient (up to 90% recoveries).
