| Abstract: | The effect of chlormadinone acetate on adult male rats during the hypothalamic differentiation phase was studied. Psychic intersexuality with increased male and increased female sexual behavior was observed both before and after postpuberal castration and sex hormone replacement. Organ weights of testes, seminal vesicles, and ventral prostrates were normal, but penis and adrenal gland weights were significantly smaller. Body growth was also significantly reduced compared with control animals. The effects of chlormadinone acetate on androgen-dependent brain differentiation are discussed and compared with analogous effects of cyproterone acetate and orchidectomy. |
