Improved methods for the preparation of N6-(2-carboxyethyl)-NAD and poly(ethylene glycol)-bound NAD(H)

Abstract:N6-(2-carboxyethyl)-NAD was prepared by alkylation of NAD with 3-iodopropionic acid instead of propiolactone, which is not commercially available now because of its carcinogenicity. This new method had the advantage of forming fewer by-products during the reaction. New methods for purification of diaminopoly (ethylene glycol) and poly (ethylene glycol)-bound NAD(H) were also described. As a results, it was possible to prepare highly purified PEG-NADH and PEG-NAD.
