Glucose metabolism during osmotic stress in isolated axons of Eriocheir sinensis

Isolated axons of $\text{Eriocheir sinensis}$ show high ratios of ¹⁴CO₂ production from glucose-1-¹⁴C to ¹⁴CO₂ production from glucose-6-¹⁴C (ratio C₁/C₆). During osmotic stresses, there is a modification in ¹⁴CO production from glucose-6-¹⁴C as well as in the ratio C₁/C₆ while ¹⁴CO₂ production from glucose-1-¹⁴C does not change significantly. These results are interpreted in terms of activity of oxidative and non-oxidative pathways of glucose metabolism.
