| Abstract: | Taeniasis is an important medical and economic problem in many countries in East Asia, especially in the mountainous and remote areas where the inhabitants are fond of eating raw or undercooked meat. P.C. Fan here discusses how sociocultural factors and local customs can contribute to the transmission of taeniasis and evaluates the economic losses caused by the disease. |
