Abstract: | Antibodies raised to a lysine solubilized peptide composed of residues 20-29 of the pancreatic islet amyloid polypeptide react selectively and specifically with this polypeptide and with islet amyloid deposits in Type 2 diabetes mellitus. These antibodies may prove useful in studies employing radioimmunoassay of body fluids and islet cell cultures in order to define if a pathogenic relationship exists between the islet amyloid polypeptide and Type 2 diabetes mellitus. |
