Abstract: | Australia requires about 33,000,000 pounds of fluecured tobacco annually and produces only 4,000,000 pounds, most of the balance being imported from the U.S.A. Production could be increased if water for irrigation were available during the “dry” season in the northeastern coastal districts. The manufacturing industry is capable of meeting all requirements. |
