Abstract: | Summary Increased production of catharanthine (about 200 g/mL) was obtained at low light intensity under chemostat cultivation as compared with batch and fed-batch processes. Photo-inhibition was observed at high light intensity. Cells after being frozen with 5% DMSO produced more catharanthine (up to 350 g/L) in batch culture than those from conventional culture techniques. |
