| Abstract: | The process of meiosis reduces a diploid cell to four haploid gametes and is accompanied by extensive recombination. Thus, chromosome dynamics in meiosis are significantly different than in mitotic cells. This review analyzes unique features of meiotic DNA replication and describes how it affects subsequent recombination and chromosome segregation. |
