Abstract: | Abstract Quantitative receptor autoradiography studies have shown that adenosine A1 receptors are heterogeneously distributed in the rat brain with high concentrations found in the forebrain and cerebellum. In contrast, high affinity A2 receptors appear to be exclusively localized in the striatum. These observations are discussed in relation to the putative neuromodulatory role of the purine in central neurotransmission. |
