Abstract:Chemical investigation of 70% EtOH exact of Patrinia villosa Juss. led to the isolation, purification and identification of two new lactones (1-2) along with twelve known compounds (3-14). Their structures were established by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against A549, HepG2, Hep3 B and MCF-7 cancer cell lines. Compounds 1, 8, 10, 11 and 12 displayed weak cytotoxic activities against MCF-7 cell line. In addition, compounds 1, 2, 8, 10, 11 and 12 were also tested their antimicrobial activities against Micrococcus luteus. Unfortunately, these compounds were found to be inactive.
