Abstract: | A two-step culture ofE. coli, in presence of 5-fluorouracil (FU), allowed to obtain 5,6-dihydro-5-fluorouracil in the external medium. The first step led to large quantities of cells in which FU catabolic pathway was induced (complex culture medium, presence of thymidine, and growth up to the stationary phase); the second step was carried out in conditions in which FU catabolic pathway was favoured (minimal medium). |
