| Abstract: | The exocellular beta-lactamase from Bacillus licheniformis 749/C has been crystallized from polyethylene glycol solution at pH 5.5. An X-ray examination of the monoclinic crystals shows the space group is P21, with unit cell dimensions a = 66.77 A, b = 93.77 A, c = 43.57 A and beta = 104.5 degrees. The asymmetric unit consists of two molecules of 28,500 Mr each. The crystals are suitable for structure analysis to at least 2 A resolution. |
