The Effect of 2: 4-Dinitrophenol on the Respiration of Apple Tissue 3

The respiration of pre-climacteric apple pulp but not peel tissuecan be stimulated by addition of DNP. Post-climacteric pulpand peel tissue cannot be stimulated by addition of DNP. The disappearance of DNP stimulation of pulp tissue respiration,and also the development of a malate-decarboxylating systemin the peel, are closely associated with the respiration climactericin the whole fruit.
