| Abstract: | The respiratory mechanisms of a shallow-water, marine and estuarine flathead, Platycephalus fuscus C. & V. are described. Morphological and behavioural adaptations enabling respiration while the fish is buried in fine, unconsolidated sediments are investigated and related to the ecology of the species. |
