Prostaglandin E2 effects on oxygen affinity by sickle erythrocytes |

| Abstract: | Prostaglandin E2 slightly increases the oxygen affinity of normal and sickle cell trait erythrocytes. Sickle cell erythrocytes display decreased oxygen affinity in the presence of PGE2, and more complex dissociation behavior, which is interpreted in terms of membrane mediated effects on hemoglobin oxygen carriage. |
