Abstract: | The electrophoretic mobility patterns of 8 enzymes have been examined in 43 classical strains of Tetrahymena pyriformis. The strains may be assorted into sets on the basis of a high degree of similarity of their mobility patterns. Strains of similar designation are frequently in different sets, whereas differently labeled strains may be in the same set. It is proposed that new strain designations be made on the basis of phenotypic similarity. |
