Abstract: | Statistical tests on the distribution of the number of chiasmata per chromosome, collected from literatures, showed that they can be approximated by binomial distributions with one obligatory chiasma, i.e., B(N-1, p). N is proportional to the average number of chiasmata, while p is nearly constant for the species tested. |
