Abstract:
The relatively high specific sulfite reductase activity of 25 mU/mg protein was found in extracts from Thiobacillus denitrificans. The absorption spectrum of the partially purified enzyme was similar to the siroheme containing sulfite reductases from other sources. It is suggested that the T. denitrificans sulfite reductase may function during the oxidation of reduced sulfur compounds.
