Abstract: | The distribution of carbon-14 down the stems of comparable boron-deficient and boron-sufficient sunflower plants after photosynthesis of 14CO2 by a single exposed leaf was investigated. In boron-deficient plants the advancing front of radioactivity was always found less far down the stem than in boron-sufficient plants. The general shape of the profile is the same in the two sets of plants. We conclude that the velocity of translocation is reduced in the boron-deficient plants. |
