Abstract:A simple colorimetric method for the quantitative estimation of thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acids using 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolone hydrazone, iodine, and ferric chloride has been described. The sensitivity of the method is such that microgram quantities of thiazolidinecarboxylic acids can be measured rapidly and accurately. The procedure is suitable for the assay of TCA or PCA supernatants from tissue homogenates, incubation media, and blood.
