Chromosome structure and eukaryotic gene organization

Abstract:The DNA in the eukaryotic nucleus is highly compacted but well organized into distinct regional units. Chromosomal bands are characterized by their structure and distinctive replication time. They are subdivided into chromatin loops which serve as functional domains that have discrete boundary elements and can be regulated during development.
