Studies on the Chemical Constituents of the Root of Libanotis buchtorimensis Fisch Dc.

Two crystalline substances were isolated from the root of Libanotis buchtorimensis (Fisch) Dc., one of them identified as trans-P-hydroxy-cinnamic acid. It was first found in this plant, Compound (Ⅷ)is anew compound, white needle crystal, melting point 189-191℃, with the empirical formula C14H14O4, its structure was elucidate by means of UV, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS, It was named libanotin A.
