| Abstract: | The unusual structure of the kinetoplast DNA (kDNA) of trypanosomatids requires unique replication mechanisms. Deciphering the mechanisms that regulate the network assembly has been a challenge for many years. A better understanding of these processes was facilitated by recent studies on the fine structure of resting and replicating kDNA networks. In this review, Joseph Shlomai discusses our current view of the structural and mechanistic aspects of the assembly of kinetoplast DNA. |
