| Abstract: | This paper is the first in a series proposing to evaluate growth constants from the viewpoint of and by the methods of the physical chemist. After discussing the physicochemical conception of growth, tentative numerical values of two growth constants are given for several species of animals including man, and the methods of computation are discussed in detail. |
