Abstract: | The methods specified in the European Pharmacopoeia for the detection of Mycoplasma synoviae and Mycoplasma gallisepticum as contaminants of vaccines were compared by investigating the serological responses of chicks inoculated with dilutions of mycoplasma cultures, these cultures being titrated in parallel in vitro. Inoculation by the intrathoracic route proved to be as sensitive as, or more sensitive than the other methods and was of similar sensitivity to the in vitro titrations for both agents. |
