Abstract: | A family of complexes of N-methylmorpholinium metal halides has been synthesized and analyzed using X-ray crystallography and temperature dependant magnetic susceptibility. The compounds produced include (nmmH)2CuCl4] (1), (nmmH)2CoCl4] (2), (nmmH)2MnCl4] (3), (nmmH)2CuBr4] (4), (nmmH)2CoBr4] (5), and (nmmH)2MnBr4] (6) nmmH = N-methylmorpholinium]. The compounds are all isomorphous and exhibit weak one dimensional antiferromagnetic interactions, with a contribution from single-ion anisotropy in the case of the cobalt complexes. |
