Partitioning of yeast RNA in aqueous two-phase system

Abstract:Summary The partition behaviour of RNA extracted from yeast was examined using three types of aqueous two-phase systems: potassium phosphate—polyethyleneglycol (PEG) system, ammonium sulphate—PEG system and dextran sulphate—PEG—NaCl system. The molecular weight of PEG showed rather remarkable effects of RNA partition than did the electrolyte. High molecular weight RNA was concentrated at the interface in these systems. This suggests the possibility of its simple concentration or extraction.
