Abstract: | Serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA), but not several other putative neurotransmitters, stimulate cyclic adenosine-3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP) production in slices of gill. Furthermore, 5-HT but not DA increases cAMP in slices of the heart of . Several lines of evidence indicate that the receptors are distinct entities; however, no drugs were found to block one receptor without affecting the other. |
