Abstract: | Summary Levansucrase (E.C. 2.4.1.10), which has long been known to be produced intracellularly byErwinia
herbicola, was found in relatively high concentrations in the extracellular culture fluid of bacteria grown in various media. Sucrose was not required for enzyme secretion. A medium consisting of corn steep liquor and sorbitol or mannitol gave the highest yields of enzyme. The mention of firm or trade names does not imply endorsement by the USDA or recommendation over other firms or similar products not mentioned. |
