A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) application for free‐living nematodes (Rhabditida) discrimination
Authors:N. Nikolaidis  Z. G. Scouras
Abstract:Synthetic primers were designed and constructed based on Caenorhabditis elegans genomic sequences, targeting HSP70 related sequences. Genomic DNA derived from several free‐living bacterial feeding nematode species was subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR), attempting discrimination among them. The amplified DNA fragments exhibited a distinct and reproducible pattern that characterizes different nematode species and populations.
