Abstract: | The unicellular cyanobacterium Agmenellum quadruplicatum PR-6 grows in the presence of light on agar containing 10 microM 3-(3,4 dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea and 1 to 30 mM glycerol. A derivative strain, PR-6G2, was tolerant of 100 mM glycerol. Photoheterotrophic growth conditions had little effect on transformation competence but did decrease the viability of single cells plated onto agar, particularly cells of the parent strain. |
