Abstract: | Summary Post-incubation fractionation of soils incubated with C14-tagged oat roots under aerobic and anaerobic conditions and chromatographic separation of hydrolysates of different organic matter fractions indicated the incorporation of C14-labelled amino acids in soil organic matter. Anaerobic incubation leads to the formation of hydrolysable heavily C14-labelled organic substances in greater quantity. The amino acid composition of the different fractions revealed not a very significant qualitative difference. The significance and causes of stabilization of amino acids in soil organic matter are discussed. |
