Abstract:Summary The influence of initial substrate concentration on fermentation kinetics of Zymomonas mobilis on glucose has been studied in batch cultures over the range 50–190 gl-1 glucose. With increasing glucose, parameters relative to growth (mgr and RGX) are more rapidly and more noticeably affected than those connected with ethanol production (ngrp and RGP). The water content of the cells is also affected.
