淮北第四纪原始牛化石

文中描述了安徽省蒙城县肖塘—原始牛宿县亚种(Bos primigenius suxianensis)头骨化石,时代为晚更新世.它是我国原始牛中角心最长的标本,其化石点也是我国除台湾新化以外的原始牛最南产地.

A SKULL OF BOS PRIMIGENIUS SUXIANENSIS FROM ANHUI

The specimen of Bos primigenius suxianensis described in the present paper was collected at Mengcheng county, Anhui province by the local people excavating Jianghuai New Canal in 1973. It is believed of Upper Pleistocene. This fossil may add some interesting points to our knowledge concerning the Quaternary mammalian faunas of the Huai River district. The horn-cores of the specimens are first extended laterally, then curved gently forward and upward. The curvature of the horn-cores seems a little different from those found in other localities in China, the latter are more rapidly turned anteriorly-upward toward their tips. The horn-cores are the longest among the specimens so far found in China, and except Taiwan, the most southern occurrence in China.
