Abstract:Many species experience aperiodic mortality. Yet, there is little or no understanding of how this event affects population dynamics. We have considered one of the most simple class of age-structured models, namely, the MacKendrick Von Foerster type equations with suitable modifications to suit the purpose of this study. The main result shows the effect of delay in the estimate of the population. If the delay parameter is taken as a period, then the model equations describe the dynamics of seasonal insects such as locusts whose large population decreases very fast.
