Purification and crystallization of a protein complex from Bacillus stearothermophilus ribosomes

A complex of ribosomal proteins B-L8 and B-L13 from Bacillus stearothermophilus has been isolated and crystallized. The cell dimensions are $\text{a = b = 108}\text{A}\text{?}\text{, c = 242}\text{A}\text{?}$ with the space group P4₁2₁2 (or P4₃2₁2). The asymmetric unit probably contains two complexes with a 4:1 stoichiometry of the proteins.
