Development and application of postbiotics in skin health and beauty field

Since postbiotics have some effects of probiotics but without viable bacteria, they are easier to be commercialized. Moreover, due to their smaller molecules that are easier to be absorbed by the skin, they have attracted attention in the beauty and skin care field. There are many factors affecting skin aging, and skin microecological balance is a necessary factor to maintain skin health. Microecological imbalance occurs in the pathological state of the skin, and the skin microbiome changes continuously during the aging process. This paper introduced the skin microbiome and preparation of postbiotics, reviewed the maintenance of skin homeostasis and the development and application of postbiotics in the field of beauty and skin care, and discussed the possible mechanisms, providing certain basis for the further development and application of postbiotics in the field of skin beauty and health.
