Abstract: | Cells persistently infected with canine distemper virus can be lysed by antibody and complement. This reaction is dependent upon the alternative complement pathway. In the absence of antiviral antibody, the virus-infected cells will activate the alternative complement pathway, although this will not produce cell lysis. |
