| Abstract: | The recent application of precise biochemical and electrophysiological techniques to studies of taste cells has brought new insights into the cellular mechanisms of taste transduction. They have revealed that taste cells use a variety of mechanisms for transduction, including apically located ion channels, ligand-gated channels, and receptors coupled to second messenger systems. |
