Abstract: | The family Lycophoriidae from the Middle Ordovician of Baltoscandia with one monotypic genus and five species is revised. New inner structures were revealed and diagnoses of the family, genera, and species were specified in the study of cross sections and microstructure of the shell. The third prismatic layer, complex dental plates, and socket ridges with short pointed lateral outgrowths were recorded. The family Lycophoriidae cannot be assigned with confidence to any known brachiopod order. |
