Abstract:The binding parameters of the sex steroid binding globulin (SSBG) for testosterone and estradiol have been measured by a method using differential precipitation of plasma proteins by ammonium sulphate. The method is relatively simple and can be applied in a routine manner for the analysis of large numbers of plasma samples. The values for the binding capacity and association constant are similar to those reported for other methods. The method also enables the calculation of the circulating plasma levels of unbound steroids.
