| Abstract: | Various 4-oxo-4H-chromen-2-carboxylic acids and their derivatives were screened for aldose reductase inhibitory activity. Their inhibitory response along with that of several flavonoids has been correlated with simple Hückel molecular orbital calculations. From these results a possible mode of action is postulated. |
