| Abstract: | In the rat both hypothyroidism and diabetes decrease heparin-releasable liver lipase activity. This defect may be reversed by feeding a diet rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. It is suggested that a diet-induced increase of membrane fluidity restores liver lipase activity, which contributes to the hypolipidemic effect of polyunsaturated fatty acids. |
