Abstract: | Over the past few years, several major advances have occurred in the understanding of how the humoral and cellular immune system of humans recognizes and destroys transplant cells, tissues and organs derived from animal sources. Consequently, armed with this new knowledge, several laboratories have now developed novel immunoprotective technologies that may allow xenotransplantation to be clinically feasible. |
