Standing stock of microzooplankton on coral reefs: a preliminary study

The standing stock of microzooplankton on mid-shelf coral reefsin the central Great Barrier Reef was investigated based onsamples collected with a Niskin bottle in February and October1989 The observed net decrease in standing stock of microzooplanktonacross the reef flat suggests that a lack of information ontheir standing stock on coral reefs has led to an underestimateof the allochthonous energy input to coral reef systems.
