| Abstract: | A simple preparation of a deuterated alkylating reagent is described. Its reaction with the β93-SH groups of hemoglobin was used to illustrate the preparation of a protein derivative which contains 5 covalently attached non-exchangeble deuterium atoms at a unique locus on each β chain. |
