| Abstract: | Rapid growth in culture of Equisetum arvense gametophytes wasobtained using Murashige-Skoog's medium plus 3% (w/v) sucroseand continuous illumination. In darkness, growth was reducedand chlorophyll synthesis markedly inhibited. Antheridia formedon the top margin of gametophytes in light and darkness butarchegonia were not observed in either case.
